Find Funding Opportunities
La Follette offers two Summer scholarships to help you fund your summer internship. There is also an undergraduate scholarship offered by SuccessWorks (see below)
The La Follette School undergraduate scholarship is called the La Follette Public Policy Scholarship (LFSPPS).
The LFSPPS provides funding to offset the tuition for students who sign up to take Public Affairs 327: Administrative Internship concurrently with a policy-related summer internship (if unsure whether your internship is policy related, please contact the Career Services Director for guidance). The hope is that undergraduate students will pursue opportunities for learning and working in organizations that integrate policy knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.
- To be awarded a scholarship, you must enroll in PA 327 – no other courses may be substituted
- The application period opens yearly in March and closes in late April
- It will be advertised both on this site and via email
- Applications are made through the WISH online portal
- You need not have a confirmed internship at the time you apply for the scholarship, however, students should not accept internships with the expectation of receiving a scholarship
- The availability of, and demand for, funds vary each year; thus, the number awards may also vary. If funding remains available after the April deadline, the Career Services Director may extend the application period but students should not expect this to occur
Round 1 application opens February 1. The deadline to apply is March 31.
Round 2 application opens April 1. The deadline to apply is May 15.

Interns receiving no salary compensation and those with internships in a foreign country or major US metropolitan area outside of Wisconsin and its neighboring states are given priority for awards. The availability of and demand for funds vary each year; thus, the number and size of awards also vary. Students should not accept internships with the expectation of receiving an award.
- To receive internship support, students must enroll in PA 827 Administrative Internship for 1, 2, or 3cr
- The application period opens yearly in March and closes in late April
- It will be advertised both on this site and via email
- Applications are made through the WISH online portal
- You need not have a confirmed internship at the time you apply for the scholarship, however, students should not accept internships with the expectation of receiving a scholarship
- Full-time students are eligible for internship support during the summer between their first and second years at the La Follette School and may receive no more than three credits for internships; thus, students who already received three credits for PA 827 are not eligible for summer support
- Students who hold project, research, or teaching assistantships in the spring semester are eligible for full tuition remission during the summer. Students must still pay associated UW fees. Full tuition remission does not preclude students from requesting support. Summer support consists of a one-time stipend only; it does not come with tuition or health insurance benefits.
